A woman from Haringey arrested on New Year’s Eve in connection with terror offences has been released on bail.

The 25-year-old was arrested at Luton Airport as she got off an flight from Istanbul. She was interviewed by counter terrorism officers on suspicion of preparing for acts of terrorism.

The woman, who has surrendered her passport, was released on bail from police custody yesterday on the condition that she lives and sleeps at a specific address known to police, and reports twice a week to a police station.

Two children were also travelling with her and are now being looked after by social services.

The terror threat level in the UK was raised from ‘substantial’ to severe’ last year following concerns over the threat of young extremists inspired by the rise of the Islamic State (IS) in Iraq and Syria.
