Thousands of photographs have been snapped by members since Edmonton Camera Club was set up 70-years-ago.

Its inaugural meeting was held on March 5, 1945 in a classroom in Brettenham School with 12 people paying 5/9d (26p) to attend.

Today it attracts up to 200 people to its events and next week will mark the anniversary with two special events.

In the first, current members will be showcasing some of the images they have captured at a public exhibition at Forty Hall, which will run from March 3 to 29 (excluding Mondays). The public will be able to vote for their favourite photograph.

It will also be hosting a talk at Millfield Theatre in Silver Street, Edmonton, on March 6 from 7.45pm, by the renowned Magnum photographer Martin Parr, who will be giving a snapshot look at his long career.

Edmonton Camera Club meets weekly on Monday evenings in the Strand Room, Millfield House.
