An Enfield man is one of four to be charged with charged with attempting to free two convicts from a prison van outside Wood Green Crown Court.

Armed police shot dead a man in Bracknell Close, during the alleged escape attempt on Friday.

Eren Hayser, 25, of Kettering Road, Enfield Lock, allegedly tried to aid the escape of Izzet Eren and Erwin Amoyaw-Gyamfi from prison.

Nathan Mason, 30, of Vicarage Road and Gokay Sogucakli, 19, of the Roundway, both in Tottenham, face the same charge, as well as possessing an imitation firearm and using a motor vehicle taken without the owner's consent.

Ozcan Eren, 31, of Douglas Road, Wood Green, was also charged with conspiracy to aid the escape of two prisoners.

The 28-year-old man from Tottenham was killed during an “intelligence led operation” by police.

Peter, a scaffolder working nearby, said four or five officers surrounded the man after he was shot.

He added: "The guy came out, dragged by police. He fell to the floor.

"There were four or five officers around him, trying to resuscitate him."

All four will appear in custody at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court today.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission and Directorate of Professional Standards - the Metropolitan Police's internal watchdog - are investigating the shooting.
