Primary school pupils have been given a masterclass into the world of construction as part of a Mayor’s Fund scheme.

Pupils from Latymer All Saints Primary School, in Hydethorpe Avenue, Edmonton, learnt of different careers in construction and interview of Taylor Wimpey North Thames employees, filmed specially for the event, about their individual jobs.

The visit was part of the ‘Be the Best You Can Be! London’ programme, which was launched last year as a partnership between the Mayor’s Fund for London.

Mrs Kathy Hill, Headteacher at Latymer All Saints C of E Primary School, said: “We are very grateful to Taylor Wimpey for the work they have done with our children. During our business week each year we aim to teach the children more about the world outside school, and the opportunities they will have in the world of work. This gives a purpose to their learning and targets to work towards, fitting very well with our school value of Aspiration and the programme we are following, ‘Be the Best You Can Be!’”

David Peycke, land and planning director: “We were delighted to visit Latymer All Saints C of E Primary School and talk about what it’s like to have a career in the house-building industry.

“Young people are the employees of the future, and it’s important to inspire them at an early age about the opportunities that are available to them.”

Jack Costello, sales manager: “We really enjoyed meeting the children and giving them an insight into the world of work and we hope they found it interesting and enjoyable too.”
