Two adult social care homes have received positive ratings after recent inspections.

Heritage Care Limited and the Mr Edward William Marcus centre in Haringey have been rated as “good” by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Heritage, on Meridian Walk, near White Hart Lane, was praised by the CQC across all categories.

The report said that “Staff knew people’s needs and there were enough staff on duty to meet their assessed needs”, and “Staff were trained to support people with all aspects of their care.”

Mr Edward William Marcus, on Kitchener Road near Bruce Grove, was lauded by the CQC for “staff approaching people in a sensitive manner giving encouragement and working at the person's pace”, as well as for the number of individual and group activities provided and that staff said they felt management listened to any concerns they had.

In the past week the CQC has published 31 reports on the quality of care provided by adult social care services across London.

Sally Warren, CQC's deputy chief inspector for adult social care, said: “Everyone should be confident that their local social care providers will deliver safe, effective, compassionate and high quality care.  Where we find that this is the case, we give a rating of Good, or Outstanding.”

Following recent inspections, 21 care homes and homecare agencies have been rated as “Good”, nine have been rated as “Requires Improvement” and one has been rated Inadequate. None reached the “Outstanding” category.

Under CQC’s programme of inspections, all services are being given a rating according to whether they are “safe”, “effective”, “caring”, “responsive” and “well led”.
