Young people keen on politics, charity and volunteering are being urged to take part in a new North London scheme.

The ONE Campaign, a year-long voluntary programme, wants students to use their collective voice and campaigning power to call for real change in the fight against poverty in their Youth Ambassador programme.

Last year, the 2015 ONE Youth Ambassadors lobbied MPs to keep child poverty on the agenda, travelled to Munich at the time of the G7 Summit to meet 220 other Youth Ambassadors from across Europe, held almost 200 meetings with politicians, and campaigned at over 250 events.

ONE is now calling on aspiring activists to join this year’s programme. After being trained in lobbying politicians, working with the media and engaging the public, the Youth Ambassadors will campaign in their communities, universities, workplaces and beyond.

Former Youth Ambassador, Khalid Ahmad, 19, from Harrow, said: “Becoming a Youth Ambassador for ONE proved to be the best decision I had ever made. It has introduced me to hundreds of people passionate about ending extreme poverty worldwide and taken me to places I could never have imagined.”

Diane Sheard, UK Director of ONE, said: “Young people’s voices are one of the most powerful tools in changing the world. Our Youth Ambassador programme is a great opportunity for those who care about global justice to work together and help deliver lasting change.”
