THREE men who carjacked luxury cars to rob cigarette trucks have been jailed.

Jeffrey Galvin, 29, of Dorking Court, Tottenham, was sentenced to nine years in jail at Isleworth Crown Court yesterday.

Andrew Nolan, 35, of Barnet Road, Potters Bar, will spend four years behind bars while Gerard Galvin, 28, of Gravel Hill Way, Harwich, was jailed for seven years.

The trio stole around £80,000 worth of cigarettes from Palmer and Harvey delivery trucks.

They stole expensive cars, usually Audis or BMWs - to hijack deliveries of cigarettes to shops.

Their carjacking victims include a woman with her young children.

They were arrested on April 29 and pleaded guilty to their crimes.

Detective Inspector Tom Dahri said:  "Although the group seldom used violence, their car-jackings and robberies were terrifying for all of their victims who were just going about their daily business.

“The group were highly organised and stole their cars to ensure a robbery could be carried out as efficiently as possible."

The three men were arrested on April 29 2015 following a series of robberies targeting Palmer and Harvey delivery drivers as they delivered cigarettes across the south east of England, with a total of around £80,000 worth of cigarettes stolen.
