CHILDREN with disabilities will be offered special yoga classes to help them cope with daily challenges.
The London Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy, in Muswell Hill, is offering one-to-one sessions for young people who have cerebral palsy, motor disorders or Down’s syndrome until May 27.
The aim is to help disabled children sleep better, concentrate and develop muscle strength, while also teaching them to “self-calm” and gain confidence.
Szonja Meyer, the yoga instructor, said: “Yoga encourages the children to focus on their breathing and movements. It allows the mind to be in the present moment. As a result of being in tune with their body, yoga helps to increase the child’s self-esteem and confidence.”
Each session lasts half an hour and there is no limit to the number of sessions you can attend.
