PRIMARY school children held a tea party to celebrate the Queen turning 90.

Pupils at Seven Sisters Primary School, in South Grove, held different activities throughout last week in honour of the monarch’s milestone birthday.

The week began with each class turning their door into a giant birthday card along with making and wearing crowns, before the whole school sat down for a tea party and cake on Friday.

Kwabena, a Year 6 pupil, said: “It's fantastic that the whole school is celebrating the Queen’s birthday together.”

Chineya, a reception pupil, said: “We are celebrating the Queen’s birthday, she lives in a beautiful palace with beautiful things.”

Emma Murray, the head teacher, described the day as “amazing”.

She said: “With British Values high on the curriculum, it is a fun way for children to learn about the monarchy.

“The staff and children have all said what an amazing afternoon they have had.”
