Enfield’s A-level results are better than the national average, it has been revealed today (August 19).

Council statistics show the borough’s teenagers achieved a pass rate of 98.2 percent, 0.1 per cent ahead of the average score for the whole UK.

Twelve out of 17 schools in Enfield have improved on their performance last year, and five schools saw 100 per cent of their pupils achieve passing grades (A* to E).

They are Broomfield, Nightingale Academy, Southgate, Edmonton County and Enfield County – the latter two seeing this feat managed by their pupils for the second year running.

76 per cent of students earned high passes - A* to C grades – a one per cent rise on the 2015 scores.

Cllr Ayfer Orhan, Enfield Council cabinet member for education, children’s services and protection, said: “Enfield’s students have achieved higher grades in their chosen subjects and this reflects their hard work and ambition to succeed.

“Teachers work extremely hard to ensure that all students fulfil their potential for A-levels and other examinations all of which will help young people in the next stage of their education. Congratulations to all of them.”

The results of students who took other causes and qualifications will be published in the achievement and attainment tables in late January 2017.
