Staff at Whipps Cross Hospital will stage an afternoon of family fun when they host an open day next month.

The hospital will offer a number of activities for people of all ages on Saturday, September 17 between 11.30am and 3.30pm.

A teddy bear clinic will be held for youngsters, who will be able to bring their favourite cuddly toys to for a check-up.

Other activities to keep the whole family entertained include a Chinese Lion Dance, giant games for adults, henna art and balloon-modelling.

Funded by Barts Charity, health teams will also provide free health checks, such as blood pressure tests, for all on the day.

Food and drink will be available, including an ice-cream van.

The Barts Health sexual health team will also be offering confidential advice and testing for sexually transmitted infections, including HIV tests to people aged over 16 years.

Dr Sarah Frankton, Clinical Director for Transformation and Education, said: “Come along and bring the whole family for a fantastic fun-filled day, whilst also taking the opportunity to look after your health with blood pressure and sexual health tests.”
