A disused car park could be turned into allotments, exhibition space and a café, in new plans from Haringey Council unveiled this week.

The council want to turn the former Station Road Car Park near Wood Green station, and connected empty office building, into work sheds, studios and offices for workplaces or shops for businesses.

The scheme, known as the Wood Green Campus project, will also include a cafe in a Routemaster double-decker bus, micro allotments, an arts exhibition space, and offices. There will also be a central square for cultural events and markets.

The council claim it could create 30 jobs, and it could be ready by Spring 2017.

The plans are open to public consultation, with information available at the Green Rooms in Station Road on Thursday September 22 between 10am to 6pm, and at Wood Green Library on Saturday, September 24 between noon and 4pm.

Cllr Joe Goldberg, Haringey council cabinet member for economic development, social inclusion and sustainability said: “This is an exciting project to bring vacant land, a car park and buildings owned by the council back to life and deliver something really vibrant for Wood Green residents.

“We want to support the local economy and need local businesses, retailers or small scale manufacturers to get involved. Whether they are filmmakers, florists or fishmongers we want a range of businesses to come forward with their ideas to make the most of this exciting opportunity.”
