A Year 10 student has achieved scooped first place at a public speaking event.
St Thomas More Catholic School student Lin Ly won the Haringey Regional Finals of Jack Petchley’s “Speak Out” challenge on Tuesday 31, January.
The contest encourages teenagers from state schools from London and Essex to gain confidence in public speaking.
Champion Lin Ly said: “I feel very relieved I was able to make it through to the regional finals and actually win first place.”
Her speech “Flopped” impressed the judges, but peer Claudyne Small was also praised for speech “Bashing” and landed fourth place.
Second and third prize were awarded to student at Gladesmore Community School in Tottenham.
