MOTORISTS caught using their phone at the wheel will be given much tougher fines.
Those brazenly using their mobile while driving are currently given three penalty points and a fine of £100 - but as of March 1, this will double.
In a document announcing the changes the DfT said that even though penalties had been increased a number of times - this had no impact on levels of offending.
And clearly, the people we caught zooming along the A406 this week have no regard for the rules.
Although the speed limit there is 50mph, the drivers were too engrossed in their conversations to notice the traffic around them, let alone the fact that they were being photographed.
We make no apology in publishing our gallery of shame.
