FLOWER power was in the air as people tried to make the area a greener place at an eco-event.

People took part in free activities in the pop up Edmonton Green Market, near Market Square, to celebrate improvements to the waste management and recycling initiatives at the centre.

The week-long event began with the unveiling of an ‘eco pledge’ wall, which encouraged shoppers to sign their name as a promise to make greener life choices.

B&M Waste Services were also on hand to show people how waste is diverted from landfill and why it is important to put rubbish into the correct bin.

Children fashioned recycled egg boxes into plant pots for a free craft workshop, customising them with glitter and feathers.

Cycle Enfield also provided tips to shoppers for their broken bikes and handed out free bike repair kits.

The Local Energy Advice Programme advised people how to save energy in their homes while Flower Power Walking Hedges roamed the centre to spread eco love and happiness.

To round off the week, children stepped inside a giant seedpod for a storytelling session.
