A home care firm started by a mother and daughter has been lauded by inspectors in a fresh report.

Home Instead Senior Care Epping Forest received the highest possible rating of “outstanding” in a Care Quality Commission (CQC) report publish this week.

The company is one of just two per cent of adult social care providers nationwide to have been rated outstanding since the CQC began using the system in 2015.

Victoria Rigby and her mother, Jennifer Rigby, opened the doors to the Epping Forest office of Home Instead Senior Care in January 2013.

Part of a national chain, the company aims to match its caregivers to clients based on shared interests and personalities.

Victoria said, “I am really proud that we have achieved an outstanding rating and it’s lovely to have done it with my mum at my side.

“What shines through in the report is that this is a whole team effort with every one of us working to improve the lives of the people we care for.

“We are all totally committed to providing the highest possible care. And for us that means care that is companionship-led and built around each of our client’s individual needs and the wishes of their families.”

The CQC report found the company’s carers: “went above and beyond what was expected of them” and the service: “had gone the extra mile by considering the needs of people and their caregivers”.

It added: “Without exception people and relatives we spoke to were extremely positive about the care and support they received. Everybody said the caregivers were very caring”.

A family member told inspectors: “The caregivers are delightful and they also respect me as the family carer. I can’t fault them, they go above and beyond.”

The firm has also set up a monthly dementia café to allow caregivers, clients and their families to get together.

This was highlighted in the report, which praised the company’s work to promote awareness of the effects of living with dementia.

Jennifer added: “Our caregivers are recruited for their caring and compassionate natures.

“We look for people with strong family ideals, the type of people you would want to care for your own mother.

“Working with my daughter is really special and I consider myself to be really fortunate in this respect. We really are just one big family and that’s lovely.”
