A new all-weather sports pitch is to be unveiled.

The pitch will make it possible for Enfield Council to support grassroots football and encourage more people to take part in exercise.

Cllr Daniel Anderson, Enfield Council cabinet member for environment, will open the new facility at Enfield Playing Fields, on Donkey Lane, on Monday November 20.

Surplus moneys made from renting the pitch will be reinvested into maintaining the borough’s grass pitches.

People from Enfield Town FC, the facility’s partner, will attend.

The Club is a Community Standard Charter Club.

It will help deliver football outreach programmes, which include the development of female, youth and disability football.

The Premier League and The FA Facilities Fund, which the Football Foundation delivers, made the project possible with a £522,007 grant.

The Football Foundation is the UK’s largest sports charity in the UK.

Since its founding in 2000, the Foundation has awarded around 15,000 grants worth over £580 million to improve grassroots sport.

The Foundation is funded by the Premier League, The FA and Government through Sport England.
