Students who go to an Academy with links to Tottenham Hotspur had the chance to further their learning at two specially arranged events last week.

Engineering A level students at the London Academy of Excellence Tottenham went to the construction site of the new Spurs stadium, where site managers spoke about the ongoing project.

And, on Tuesday December 5 Tottenham Hotspur legends, Ledley King and Gary Mabbutt, spoke to students at a school assembly on the topics of leadership and overcoming career challenges.

The former captains who are now Club Ambassadors talked to the students for an hour to inspire them to do well in their exams.

Jan Balon, head teacher at the London Academy of Excellence Tottenham, said: “We are extremely privileged to have Tottenham Hotspur as one of our business sponsors and be able to give our students access to opportunities like these.

“The incredible new stadium rising out of the ground next door to us is providing a huge amount of excitement for our students, so to be able to go on site and speak to those who are involved in the project is truly inspiring.

“Furthermore, not too many students in the country get an audience with sporting heroes that have achieved so much in their lives and careers.

“For Ledley and Gary to come in and pass on their experiences and advice is something that I am sure will stick with our students throughout their time with us and beyond.”

Tottenham Hotspur and Highgate School sponsor the state-funded London Academy of Excellence Tottenham at Lilywhite House on the new stadium development.

London Academy of Excellence Tottenham offers the brightest students in the area a chance to progress onto university, regardless of economic background.

Ledley King and Gary Mabbutt made almost 1,000 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur between them.
