This year will see the first Enfield Literary Festival, which celebrates the borough’s cultural and literary heritage.

Taking place on January 27 at the Edmonton Green Library, it will start at 10am and finish at 5pm.

The day will consist of a series of lectures and workshops. The event has been funded by the Arts Council England which supports Enfield’s bid to be London Borough of Culture in 2019.

Established by Martin Russo, Founder & Editor of Entwo for Enfield, to shine a light on the rich culture within Enfield and inspire others to channel their creative energy.

Russo says: “I am thrilled to celebrate Enfield’s illustrious literary history with an event that caters to a variety of interests. I hope to continue this festival for years to come.”

There will be 4 speakers at the event: Catherine Johnson, Alex Woolf, Dr Katy Beavers and Martin Russo. Each will focus on a different subject.

Schedule of talks and workshops:

10am to 12pm: Surgery and Talk from Catherine Johnson, author and writer for film, TV and radio (A Nest of Vipers, Sawbones, The Curious Tale of the Lady Caraboo, Blade and Bone) talks about, and lends advice on, creative writing.

1pm to 3pm: Workshop and Talk from Alex Woolf, local author, leads a workshop on creative writing, and talks about how his passion for history and science has helped shape his fiction.

3pm to 4pm: Lecture by Dr. Katy Beavers, The Charles Lamb Society, presents Charles and Mary Lamb - Idolisation, Inspiration and Insanity.

4pm to 5pm: Journalism Talk by Martin Russo, founder and editor of Entwo for Enfield. Has the rise of digital media, blogs and hyper-local journalism enriched our local media landscape?
