People are being urged to take part in a newly launched consultation.

Enfield Council is proposing a Controlled Parking Zone around Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium from the start of the 2018/19 season.

The Controlled Parking Zone would operate between noon and 9pm on event days to ease congestion.

Those who live in the proposed Zone or have businesses there would be issued with three-year parking permits for free.

Visitor permits will have a nominal charge.

The consultation ends on February 23.

In 2017, Enfield Council consulted people about potential parking problems in the South Edmonton area which could result from the opening of the new stadium.

Cllr Daniel Anderson, Enfield Council’s cabinet member for environment, said: “We are committed to building strong communities in our borough and believe this is a sensible and workable plan to avert the likelihood of hundreds of vehicles potentially clogging up residential roads in Edmonton on event days.

“However, before we proceed, we’d like residents to tell us their thoughts and ideas so we can ensure that, together, we can find the right long-term solution to this imminent problem.”

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will have a capacity of over 61,000.

In addition to Premier League football matches, the stadium can be used for up to 16 major non-football events each year.

Two of these will be American football games and six others possibly concerts.

The club is promoting the use of public transport to and from events.
