Police are giving people the chance to find out what it takes to be a 999 call operator.
Hertfordshire Constabulary will be holding an open evening for communications operators at their headquarters in Welwyn Garden City on July 9 at 7pm.
Communications operators are the people who staff the force communications room, answering emergency 999 calls and non-emergency 101 calls, as well as answering questions on the force’s online web chat.
The evening is an informal event to give people interested in joining the team the chance to tour the headquarters, find out about the role and talk to existing communications operators.
Superintendent Michael Trotman, who leads Hertfordshire Constabulary’s public contact team, said: “Working in the control room is a hugely rewarding job where no day is the same and every day you do something to help those who are most in need and often vulnerable.”
The evening will be at Hertfordshire Constabulary’s headquarters in Stanborough Road, Welwyn Garden City, from 7pm to 9pm.
Anyone interested can register by emailing victoria.west@herts.pnn.police.uk.
