A care home hit the right note at an opera evening.

Celebrations were in full swing at Care UK’s Elizabeth Lodge in Pennington Drive, Enfield.

The care team organised a live screening of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly from Glyndebourne opera house to make one resident’s wish come true.

Born in London in 1927, Josephine Sabini had a strong interest in the arts, from poetry writing to music.

Her taste in music ignited a passion for the opera, but until now she never saw a live performance.

As well as showing Madama Butterfly, Josephine's favourite opera, the team at Elizabeth Lodge decorated the home to create an operatic atmosphere and organised a champagne reception in the home’s garden.

Everyone were treated to canapes and refreshments, and guests were invited to dress up for the special occasion.

Home manager at Elizabeth Lodge Michelle Sampang said: “We love to go the extra mile for the residents here at Elizabeth Lodge, and we were delighted to make Jo’s wish come true.

“She has always been passionate about music, so it was fantastic to be able to show her favourite opera live.

“It was brilliant to see so many of our guests and residents dressing up for the occasion, and we hope that everyone enjoyed themselves as much as we did.

“We would like to say a big thank you to friends and family for celebrating with us and making the day so special for Jo.”
