A 23-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a man was left in a critical condition after being assaulted in broad daylight.

Reiss Davis was also charged with possession of an offensive weapon following the assault in Lower Queens Road, Buckhurst Hill, at 3.20pm on Friday (August 17) afternoon.

Police were called to reports that a man had struck another man in the head with a blunt object following an altercation before fleeing the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital by air ambulance and remains in a critical but stable condition.

Davis, of Great Cambridge Road, Enfield, was arrested at around 5pm on Friday.

He was due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court today, Monday, August 20.
