An Art Deco landmark often compared to the OXO tower on the South Bank will benefit from a major restoration.
St Mark's Methodist Church in Tottenham, built in 1938, is set for a revamp.
Improvements will include the repair and cleaning of the Art Deco frontage, new energy-effective windows, shopfront enhancements and new car park.
Haringey Council and Historic England’s High Street Heritage Action Zone have funded the scheme, alongside local partners.
Cllr Ruth Gordon, Haringey Council’s cabinet member for house building, placemaking and the local economy, said: "I’ve always felt that our borough has some amazing hidden architectural gems and St Mark’s is one of them.
"I’m delighted that we’ve co-produced improvement works for this eye-catching landmark."
The church serves as a communal hub and hosts five businesses, along with a congregation of around 300 people.
The renovation aims to support these services and broaden the church's community work.
Pastor the Rev Stephen Poxon said: "With a new frontage and the wider restoration works to St Mark’s, we can bring further visibility to the church and grow our support to the wider community.
"The community in the church have contributed greatly to the project and are excited about it."
