A man is in hospital after being shot by police during a raid.

The man in his 20s was shot in the shoulder during a pre-planned operation along Green Lanes.

Five others were also arrested for conspiracy to rob when they were stopped in two cars at the Green Lanes junction with the A406 North Circular.

The shooting happened shortly after midnight this morning on the Haringey-Enfield border.

The injured man is still in a serious condition in hospital.

A police spokesman said the Independent Police Complaints Commission has been informed along with the Directorate for Professional Standards and both attended the scene overnight.

The operation, led by the Met's Trident team, is still ongoing.

The five people arrested have been taken to separate police stations across London.

The road is still cordoned off and buses are prevented from travelling down the route.
