COMMUNITY groups from Enfield will help plant a dozen trees in Lee Valley Park this morning.

Broomfield Community Orchard and Enfield Scouts will join Mills Conservation Group and Herts Young Mariners at 11am to celebrate the opening of the Lee Valley White Water Centre, in Waltham Cross.

The official London 2012 Olympics venue, which opens in April 2011, offers rafting and canoeing on rapid waters.

The 12 trees being planted this month represent the number of medals to be won at events held at the centre.

Guests include Haringey Councillor John Bevan, also a member of the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority (LVPA), Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing, Waltham Abbey mayor Ricky Gadsby and LVPA chairman and Hertfordshire County Councillor Derrick Ashley.
