An entire school took to the streets today for a peace march to unveil a new plaque and to perform their positive song about Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

More than 800 pupils from Gladesmore Community School walked from their school in Crowland Road to the 639 building in High Road, to unveil a plaque from the young people of Tottenham to the community as part of the ninth annual Value Life march.

Laura Bourne, teacher at the school said: “The plaque is dedicated to the people of Tottenham from the school to show they are proud of their community.

“Last year the riots put young people in a negative light and the children really want to change that.”

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ledley King and MP for Tottenham David Lammy unveiled the plaque on the side of the 693 building which was damaged in last year’s riots.

After the short ceremony the 800 pupils made their way to White Hart Lane football stadium for a rally to promote the youth of Tottenham and hear the school choir perform their single Everybody Dreams.

The school is bidding for chart success and the song aims to show a positive image of Tottenham after last year’s riots.

Already it has the backing of music stars like Plan B, comedian Ricky Gervais and last week it was announced Tottenham Hotspur are officially backing the campaign.

Spurs defender, Ledley King, said: “I think what the school is doing is great. Young people can achieve anything they set their mind to and it’s great for the whole of Tottenham.”

Kimarne Henry, 15, who is member of the choir said: “To be supported by Spurs is a privilege. We want to bring everyone in the community in Tottenham together and the club is an important part of the community.

“After last year’s riots in Tottenham we all thought young people from Tottenham were given a bad name.

“We wanted to do something positive and show that young people really do care about the community.”

Vivian Reis, 15, who is also in the choir said: “We want to show London, the country and the rest of the world there is another side of Tottenham. There is a lot of love here and we want to share it with everyone and show we really care.”

The single will be released on iTunes on August 18.
