POLICE are hunting a robber who held a knife to a man's stomach before stealing his phone in Wood Green last night.

The 23-year-old victim was forced to the ground by his attacker in High Road, near to Earlham Grove, after walking out of Wood Green Tube Station between 11.50pm and 12.15am.

The robber then threatened him with a knife to his stomach before demanding he hand over his mobile phone and cash – while also threatening a passer-by.

After making the victim hide in nearby bushes so he would not be seen, he fled down Nightingale Road.

He is described as a 5ft 10in black man, about 20 years old, and was wearing a dark top and baggy trousers.

Detective Constable Jo Ravenhill, of Haringey CID, said: “I am particularly keen to trace the member of public that we believe was threatened by the suspect – they may not have realised what was happening but they could have crucial information that could help us to identify the perpetrator and bring him to justice.”

Anyone with information should call DC Ravenhill on 0208 345 0872 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
