European law expert Miriam Gonzalez Durantez has joined the election campaign in Haringey.

Ms Durantez, who is married to Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg, met up with Lib Dem candidate for Hornsey & Wood Green Lynne Featherstone on the campaign trail yesterday.

The pair put up the what the Lib Dems say is their 500th stakeboard in the constituency and then joined youth organisation Exposure at Ducketts Common in Turnpike Lane to talk politics.

Ms Durantez said: “Lynne is a truly progressive voice in Parliament, fighting for equality, promoting women’s rights, and tackling FGM.

"Lynne is one of the hardest working local representatives, and she deserves to be re-elected.”

The youth group were working on a film they are making with young people in Haringey and spoke to Ms Featherstone about her record in government, particularly helping young people out of gangs.

Ms Featherstone said: “It was fantastic to be joined by Miriam on the campaign trail. The 500th board is so important – as it shows just how much support my team and I have locally.

“With 29 days to go until polling day, milestones like this are incredibly important.

“It was also great to introduce Miriam to one of the best local youth organisations in the borough – Exposure. I wish them all the best with their film.”
