The Tottenham & Wood Green Independent has asked each parliamentary candidate to set out why they should become an MP at the General Election on May 7.

Here, Conservative candidate for Tottenham Stefan Mrozinski explains why you should vote for him.

Tottenham needs someone who focuses full-time on being a good constituency MP, not someone traipsing around Labour clubs all over London to get selected as Labour’s candidate for London Mayor. See #FindLammy on Twitter for more info.

I get real people and real life. One of my grandfathers arrived in Britain in 1943 as a penniless war refugee who could barely speak a word of English, the other was a bus driver in Scotland.  My mum used to stack shelves in a supermarket. My wife is originally from Nigeria - and we both went exclusively to state comprehensive schools.

I know what hard work is and am credible. Unlike Ed Miliband, I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth - hard work got me to the London School of Economics where I graduated with a first class law degree. Later I graduated from Cambridge University with a double distinction and won a place at Harvard University. I am a qualified solicitor with years of experience advising some of the world’s largest businesses on how they can grow.

Conservatives believe in personal responsibility and opportunity for all. That’s why I support the London Living Wage and Conservative plans to let workers keep more of their hard-earned money. These are policies that reward hard work and help people to support themselves and their families. Stronger discipline and higher expectations in our schools will do even more to help children from all backgrounds to fulfil their potential.

Labour abandoned Tottenham; I won’t. Labour has neglected Tottenham for years. It’s taken a Conservative, the Mayor of London Boris Johnson (not David Lammy or Labour-run Haringey Borough Council), to push through plans to invest hundreds of millions of pounds into our area. If you trust me with your vote, I will fight to improve Tottenham for you and your family.
