A new doctor’s surgery will be opened to help curb the rising tide of patients trying to register Tottenham Hale.
The new practice will be located in Hale Village and will be able to provide for more than 1,800 people.
Haringey’s Health and Wellbeing Board say the new surgery will be open in January 2016.
The announcement follows the publication of a study earlier this year which showed that there is a shortfall of GP’s in Tottenham Hale.
Cllr Peter Morton, Haringey Council’s cabinet member for health, said: “As part of our ambitious 20 year plan to regenerate Tottenham, I and the Leader of the Council have made clear that residents must get access to the health services they both need and deserve.
“I’m delighted the NHS have agreed with us on the merits of funding this new practice and I praise the hard work of all those in the task and finish group who have helped to make this happen.”
Mike Wilson, director of Healthwatch Haringey said: “We are very pleased that the publication of a study earlier this year highlighting a serious shortfall of GP provision in the east of the borough has resulted in a positive outcome. We thank the local residents associations for their tireless efforts to highlight the GP access problems.”
