A CHARITY in memory of a teenage footballer killed in a knife attack have been given a £50,000 grant.

The Godwin Lawson Foundation won a public vote in ITV’s People’s Projects competition.

It will use the money to work with women at risk of becoming involved with gangs in Enfield, Haringey and Waltham Forest.

Godwin was 17 when he was killed by Moise Avorgah, of St Ann’s Road, Tottenham.

His mother, Yvonne Lawson, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded a lottery grant to help fund our vital project which will make a real difference in the lives of young people. Before Godwin died I didn’t really think about knife crime.

“I didn’t think it would affect me or my family but it did. There are too many others who are going through the same thing. We work with young people to tackle the problem of knife crime.”
