THE MAYOR of Haringey lit a beacon in celebration of the Queen’s 90th birthday.
Jennifer Mann was at Alexandra Palace at 8.30pm on Thursday, where she lit the flame in front of a view of central London at sunset.
More than 40 people attended the event and the songs “Happy Birthday” and the National Anthem were played by the Haringey Young Musicians Jazz Quintet.
Ms Mann said: “It is a privilege and an honour to be taking part in such a momentous occasion honouring our longest reigning monarch, and is very fitting to host the occasion at Alexander Palace, the “People’s Palace”.”
