Two NFL stars brought their version of football to north London last week, in the shadow of the sport’s future English home.

Chris Baker and DeAngelo Hall, from the Washington Redskins, put students from Northumberland Park School through their paces with the oval ball.

Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium will host a minimum of two regular season NFL matches per season over 10 years when it is completed in 2018.

The rebuilt White Hart Lane will feature a retractable grass field with an artificial surface underneath that will be used for NFL games.

Club ambassador Ledley King also got involved in the session, testing the Redskins players’ skills in the English version of football.

Former Spurs captain King said: “Bringing NFL to Tottenham once the new stadium is built will be great for the area, especially for young people if today is anything to go by.

“Kids love trying new sports and having the Redskins at their school today captured the imagination of the Northumberland Park students.

“I had the chance to speak to Chris and DeAngelo and they are looking forward to playing in London at Wembley later this year, and I let them know that although the building work is still on going, the new venue here in Tottenham will be a fantastic future home for their game.”
