SPURS have promised to help clean-up Tottenham and restore community spirit after Saturday's riots.

The club's chairman, Daniel Levy, said that he was “deeply saddened” by the disorder and the disruption it was causing to local people's lives.

He said: “This is the second time this has happened in our area in recent times. Our hope is that calm and order is restored as soon as possible and that we can now look to rebuild the area and the spirit of the community.

“Through the work of the club in our neighbourhood, we know that there is a strong sense of community in Tottenham and that recent events will only serve to strengthen the resolve of all of us to improve the area and quality of lives of those who live and work within it.”

He added that the club would work closely with political leaders to offer any support it could in the immediate and long-term rebuilding of the area.
