Welcome to our blog. We want to tell you what exciting things we are doing in our schools in Tottenham.

This week we will be interviewing Mr David Chandler, deputy headteacher, from St Francis de Sales School. Mr Chandler, alongside the headteacher, is responsible for over 600 children and 100 staff in our school. He has been a teacher for many years and has worked at St Francis de Sales School for almost three years.

What do you like about your job?

How each day can be different, you do plan ahead for the week, but it changes on a daily basis.

What time do you have to start in the morning?

I try to get into work for 6.45 to 7am - but my phone goes on at 6am to start taking calls from staff that may need to speak with me.

What time do you finish?

I try to leave by 5pm but once home I do occasionally continue to work from home - checking my work emails, etc.

Do you have to work at weekends?

I come to school on a Saturday to open up for Saturday school; this gives me a bit of time to catch up on things at work while it’s quiet. All of us want to make our school a great place for learning.

I try not to work on a Sunday, but occasionally I will prepare the gospel assembly power point which is shared the following week with pupils.

What job did you want to do when you were at school?

I think I wanted to be an archaeologist - I was really interested in history.

Interview by Emily Chantre, Year 5

Tottenham Independent:

Paolo Affinita from Year 5 is a huge Arsenal fan and was so excited when he was picked to be a mascot at the Stoke v Arsenal football match on Saturday the 1st of March 2014.

How did you get picked to be the mascot?

My Godfather arranged it and I was picked out of a ballot.

Was it exciting?

It was great I got the players signatures and I had a great time going onto the pitch.

What was the score?

Stoke won 1-0, they got a penalty

The St Francis de Sales School Council has been working with Mr Chandler and our headeacher Mr Lane on how we can become healthier. The school have fresh fruit every day at playtime and we will be looking at the food our lunch time catering company supply to us. We are looking forward to visiting Sainsbury Superstore next week where we will be looking at food labelling and how we can eat and live healthy lives. We are looking forward to reporting back on our visit and what we have learnt.

Our School Council is great place for us to discuss how we improve our education and we will be helping with this blog.

I hope you have found our first school blog interesting and look forward to letting you know our great our schools in Tottenham are.
