Tottenham Independent:

We have just started another exciting year at St Francis de Sales School in Tottenham. Everyone is buzzing and positive about the new academic year. New teachers have joined our school and so we asked the two new deputies some questions.

Shabelle and Amelia are the ace reporters for this week's article.

We love our school and are very pleased to welcome two new deputy head teachers, Mrs Dimond and Mrs Bracken, who will be working with our headteacher Mr Lane to ensure all of us - teachers, support staff, pupils, parents/carers and Governors - make our learning fun and challenging.
We decided to interview our two new deputies and this is what we found out!

Tottenham Independent:

What is your first impression of St Francis de Sales School?
Mrs Dimond: "St Francis is a wonderful school. The staff and children are happy and the children clearly want to learn."
Mrs Bracken: "Everyone has been so helpful and made us feel welcome."

Why did you want to be a teacher?
Mrs Bracken: "My family has a tradition of being teachers and I enjoyed working with children so it was a natural choice."
Mrs Dimond: "I wanted to make a difference and I think this is the perfect job."

Is it scary being bosses in a school?
Mrs Dimond: "It is very exciting and we work as a team to make sure we do the best for the children."
Mrs Bracken: "I am really looking forward to working with everyone in the school to ensure each and every one of us makes this school outstanding."

Do you have any hobbies?
Mrs Dimond: "I love reading because it helps me to relax, I also like going to the gym and to swim. I was lucky enough to go to the Paralympics and watch the swimming in the newly built Olympic Park pool. I enjoy baking and I am pleased that Amelia is good at baking. I am sure HER teacher, Ms Powell, would love to taste her delicious chocolate cake! I have been watching the Great British Bake Off and the delicious cakes they make."
Mrs Bracken: "I like reading and being outdoors enjoying long walks. I used to dance and enjoy watching dance, particularly at Sadler's Wells in Islington. I am pleased Shabelle is such a good dancer and I am sure she will be a great success."

What is your favourite football team?
Mrs Dimond: "I am a big Arsenal fan and hope we do well this year."
Mrs Bracken: "Coming from Wales, I love rugby and we have a big tradition of following the Welsh national rugby side."

What would you like to achieve by the end of the first year?
Mrs Dimond: "I want our school to be well on the way to outstanding by working as a team and to help teachers make our lessons fun."
Mrs Bracken: "I want to make sure our children learn and have lots of fun in doing so and to work with teachers to organise interesting educational visits."

What advice would you give to pupils and teachers at the start of the term?
Mrs Dimond: "I would encourage all the students to come to school and be ready to learn enjoying everything St Francis de Sales has to offer."
Mrs Bracken: "I want our teachers to continue delivering exciting lessons to ensure our children have fun and learn."

Both Mrs Bracken and Mrs Dimond attended the same university, St Mary's University in Twickenham, London but were unaware of this until our ace reporters Shabelle and Amelia asked them the question in this joint interview!
