Dutch boss Louis van Gaal is reportedly still keen on becoming Tottenham’s next manager when his contract with Holland expires after the World Cup.
Spurs sounded out the former Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Ajax coach about taking the reins at White Hart Lane in December but Van Gaal told the club he would not combine the job in North London with taking Holland to the World Cup in Brazil.
Tottenham subsequently handed Tim Sherwood an 18-month contract and he has impressed since taking over as head coach but is yet to convince the board of his suitability long-term.
If Spurs fail to qualify for the Champions League, it is believed chairman Daniel Levy will again consider his options in the summer.
