Tim Sherwood says Spurs were "more than comfortable" in beating Stoke City 1-0 on Saturday, highlighting the Potters' excellent home record as the mark of Tottenham's achievement.

Mark Hughes' have been strong at the Britannia Stadium this season and made life tough for Tottenham despite being reduced to ten men in the second half when skipper Ryan Shawcross picked up a second yellow card.

“This is a tough place to come, Stoke have only lost three times and taken some big scalps and I'm sure a few coupons might have said ‘home win’, but I didn’t feel like that,” Sherwood told the club's website.

"I thought we were comfortable in the first half and should have gone in at half-time having scored more goals, but when they went down to 10 men it seemed to galvanise them. It gave them a lift."

Danny Rose's goal was enough to guide Spurs to victory, the left back scoring just his third goal for the club and his first in the league since his memorable strike against Arsenal on his full league debut in March 2010.

“Danny was excellent and our match winner today. He’s still learning the game and will learn from that today," added Sherwood.
