Olympic champion Nicola Adams has been picked in England’s team as women’s boxing makes its debut at next month’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The Haringey Police Community Club boxer was beaten in the quarter-finals of the European Championships last month.

Adams, who is one of 11 boxers in the Commonwealth team, will be targeting another medal after winning gold at the London Olympics two years ago.

Adams told BBC Sport: “I’m determined to give myself the best possible chance of making history a second time.

“Ever since it was announced that women’s boxing was going to be part of the Commonwealth Games I have been really looking forward to this event.

“The Commonwealths is the only major tournament that I have left to win a medal at.”
