Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino believes that his side must “stay calm” after going top of the league this afternoon.

His side put in an impressive performance to win 4-0 in their first home league match of the season.

A brace from Nacir Chadli and the rejuvenated Erik Lamela were the standout performances against a poor Queens Park Rangers.

Now top of the table after just two matches, Pochettino believes that imprinting his high tempo style onto his side is more important than results.

He said: “It is nothing because it has been two games, the most important thing is to develop our style and philosophy.

“It is important that we show we can play like a team because we have an unbelievable squad.”

“We need to keep to the reality and stay calm. If you lose two you are in danger.

Spurs dominated large swathes of the match and were too much for former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp’s QPR side.

In his first home league match as Spurs manager, Pochettino admitted that he was nervous before the start of the game.

He said: “Those 45 minutes I was nervous, we played well and this is the way we can take forward because we have players than can play in this way. We are very happy for the overall game.

“We are very pleased with the result, in front of our supporters for the first time this season, it was a very good game to win 4-0.”

Speaking about Redknapp’s return, Pochettino said: “I have great respect for Harry.

“It is important that the connection with the fans is good because they come to back us and they make the league.”
