Tottenham Hotspur pair Danny Rose and Andros Townsend have been called up by England manager Roy Hodgson for a double header against Norway and Switzerland next month.

Rose could win his first England cap, with the Three Lions hosting Norway at Wembley in an international friendly on Wednesday, September 3.

The left-back has kept Spurs' summer signing, Ben Davies, out of the starting XI so far this season and ended last season as the club's first-choice in the position.

Doncaster-born Rose has previously won 19 caps for England's Under-21s and also represented Team GB at the 2012 Olympics in London.

Winger Townsend won his first England cap last season, scoring on his debut against Montenegro in October last year.

Since then, the Leytonstone-born wideman has won a further four England caps, missing out on a place in Hodgson's World Cup squad following injury.

England then face Switzerland at Wembley in their first 2016 European Championships qualifier on Monday, September 8.

For the Under-21s, Eric Dier, Harry Kane, Tom Carroll - currently out on loan at Swansea City - and Alex Pritchard - currently out on loan at Brentford - have all been called up by Gareth Southgate.

The young Lions face Lithuania and Moldova in qualifying action for the 2015 Under-21 European Championships.
