Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has called on his teammates to improve in front of goal in order to improve on an encouraging start to the new season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side find themselves eighth in the early Premier League standings. But having won three of their last four and not lost since a 1-0 defeat at Manchester United on the opening day, there is much cause for optimism.

However, with just 11 goals to their name in eight league fixtures, Spurs are the joint-tenth lowest scorers in the Premier League at this stage – a figure boosted by the four goals they scored in the rout of Manchester City.

Speaking to the club’s website, goalkeeper Lloris pointed to Spurs’ profligacy in front of goal as the main area for improvement.

He said: "If we have to improve on one aspect of our game it's in front of goal - we have to score more.

"Again at Swansea City we had so much space and so many chances but we need to be more clinical in front of goal.

"It's not only about one player but all the attacking players – they need to get into the box and be more aggressive with a desire to score.

"The rest will come, though, if we keep the same attitude and behaviour. If we keep playing the same way with the same attitude then we're going to win a lot of games."
