Wins over Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Sunderland have seen Tottenham Hotspur's Mauricio Pochettino named Premier League Manager of the Month for September.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Hugo  Lloris has missed out on the Player of the Month award to Manchester United's Anthony Martial.

September saw Spurs pick up their first Premier League win, 1-0 at Sunderland, before continuing an impressive unbeaten run with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace and a resounding 4-1 triumph over Manchester City at White Hart Lane.

The Argentine beat Manchester United's Louis van Gaal, West Ham United's Slaven Bilic and Everton's David Moyes to the award.

Speaking to the club's website, he said: “I’m very happy, but this award is to recognise the players, the coaching staff, the people, the fans...the club.

"I think it’s an award that recognises all our jobs, not only the manager

“Football is a collective sport and the squad works very hard. I think this is our key - working hard. After that we have the potential and some unbelievable players that can deliver the job.

"We always believe in our way and I think this is the most important thing.

"Now we have a responsibility to follow in the same way, work hard and try to get more positive results.”
