Tottenham Hotspur's search for another striker will turn elsewhere after Marseille boss Michel confirmed his intention to keep hold of Michy Batshuayi.

The 22-year-old, who is reportedly a target for Newcastle United as well as Spurs, has been linked with a move to the Premier League for the last year.

However, Michel is keen to keep the Belgian prospect at the Stade Velodrome beyond January.

When asked about the possibility of Batshuayi leaving, Michel said: “You want to kill me! I don’t think about Michy leaving.

“If we’re going to sign anyone it will be an addition not a replacement.”

Batshuayi has scored 11 times in 18 Ligue 1 starts this season.
