Edmonton puncher Spiros Demetriou returns to the ring tomorrow as he looks to maintain his unbeaten record.

Demetriou will attempt to make it four wins out of four at York Hall in Bethnal Green – and the light-heavyweight hope is sure to be in tip-top shape for the fight.

He will face a challenge in his latest bout against Jevgenijs Andrejevs, a southpaw who is sure to offer Demetriou a different test.

The boxer, who owns Muscle Works Gym in Stoke Newington, said: “I’m in the gym all day. I’ve got no excuse not to train. There’s not a lot else to do around here.”

Demetriou showed promise as a weightlifter in his teens before switching to martial arts after picking up an injury.

He has since made a smooth transition to boxing and has been busy training two to three times a day ahead of this weekend’s fight.

The 26-year-old is unbeaten in his ring career.

He won his only amateur bout, then won all 14 fights with the IBA as a heavyweight and is 3-0 since turning professional last year with manager Victor Smith.

Demetriou had a confidence-boosting knock-out win in his last fight when his right hand ironed out Sandor Feka inside a round in Chigwell in February.

And he is happy with the start he has made to his professional career.

“The rounds are longer and the opponents are tougher, but it’s going well,” he said.

“I got a few rounds under my belt in my first two fights and got a good stoppage last time. That was good for confidence.”

Demetriou doesn’t appear to be short of confidence.

He’s hoping to challenge for a title by the end of the year and added: “I’m looking to go all the way to the top. It’s all or nothing for me.”
