Tottenham Hotspur duo Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen played the full 90 minutes as Belgium were defeated 2-0 by Italy last night in Euro 2016.
Emanuele Giaccherini scored the first, controlling a fantastic pass from the cente circle from Leonardo Bonucci which took Alderweireld out of the game, before calmly slotting the ball past Thibault Courtois in the Belgium goal.
Southampton forward Graziano Pelle added the second in injury time, as he emphatically volleyed the ball home after a quick Italian counter-attack.
Both Alderweireld and Vertonghen were fixtures in the Spurs side which finished in third place in the Premier League last season, with the North London side qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in five seasons.
Beligum’s next match is against the Republic of Ireland on Saturday.
