Harry Kane scored on his return to the starting line-up as Tottenham brushed aside Bournemouth at White Hart Lane.

The England striker capped off another commanding performance from Spurs after goals from Moussa Dembele and Son Heung-Min had put the home side in control early on.

Vincent Janssen added a rare goal in injury time to complete the Tottenham rout.

The win sees Mauricio Pochettino’s side set a new club record for consecutive league wins at home, 12, beating the previous benchmark set in 1922.

Spurs put the pressure on the visitors early on and Dembele went close to opening the scoring in the 13th minute, when he stung the palms of Artur Boruc from the edge of the box.

Two minutes later, the Belgian had opened the scoring after a poor passage of defensive play from Bournemouth.

Cherries skipper Simon Francis first allowed the ball to roll out for a corner, insistent the last touch had come off a Spurs player.

Christian Eriksen’s corner was then flicked on by Toby Alderweireld into the path of Demebele, who finished low from close range.

Tottenham have made a habit of killing off games early in recent weeks and when Son doubled his side’s advantage after 18 minutes, the three points already looked secure.

Kane produced a well-weighted flick to set the South Korean racing into the Bournemouth area, before he slotted home though Boruc’s legs.

Bournemouth began to enjoy their best spell of the game after going two down, much to the frustration of Pochettino on the sideline.

Junior Stanislas produced a dangerous ball across the Spurs six-yard box just before the break, which both Benik Afobe and Marc Pugh came agonisingly close to connecting with.

Kane was available to start a game for the first time since March 12, when he suffered an ankle injury against Millwall, which put him out of action for four weeks.

He marked his return to the starting line-up with his 20th Premier League goal of the season after the break, turning Francis far too easily in the Bournemouth area and slotting home a left-footed effort.

Jack Wilshere, at The Cherries on loan from Arsenal, did not receive the warmest of welcomes at White Hart Lane and struggled to influence the game in the centre of the park.

He suffered a premature end to his afternoon just before the hour mark, when he limped off with what appeared to be yet another injury setback, to jeers from the Spurs fans.

It took Bournemouth until the 74th minute to register a shot on target, an effort by Charlie Daniels, which was easily gathered by the Hugo Lloris in the Spurs goal.

Lloris had been little more than a spectator for much of the contest- Tottenham enjoyed more than 70 per cent of the ball in a game they should have perhaps won by a margin wider than four goals.

Vincent Janssen has had a tough first season in English football, but the Dutchman popped up in the area to grab a fourth for Spurs from an injury time corner.

Janssen's strike was his first in the Premier League since October, as well as only his second from open play this term.

The result means Spurs have now won seven league games in a row and have once again put the pressure on top-of-the-table Chelsea to get a result at Manchester United tomorrow afternoon.

Tottenham now face the league leaders next Saturday in a mouth-watering FA Cup semi-final tie before another London derby at Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park four days later.
