Tiger Woods is looking forward to returning to a happy hunting ground as he prepares to tee it up at the Arnold Palmer Invitational for the first time in five years.
The 42-year-old is the favourite for a PGA Tour event for the first time since 2014 as he targets a ninth victory in this event.
He finished in a tie for second at the Valspar Championship last weekend and came 12th at the Honda Classic last month – his best form for years.
A persistent back injury and off the course issues have blighted his career but he is tipped to win at Bay Hill this week.
Woods, who has been named the USA’s captain for the Presidents Cup next year, told a press conference in Florida: “I still have to do the work but I understand this course. I have to do some serious homework this year, though – I haven’t played here in five years.
“I’ve worked on my short game, worked on the speed of the greens. From what I’ve been told, the course is playing fast. It’s going to be a good test this week.”
