West Brom kept their slim survival hopes alive after Jake Livemore’s dramatic injury time goal earned a 1-0 win against Tottenham.

The Baggies needed to beat Spurs to stand a chance of staying in the Premier League and left it late at The Hawthorns.

Albion claimed victory when Livermore appeared to turn the ball past Hugo Lloris.

What they said

Darren Moore

West Brom caretaker manager Darren Moore: “I feel from the crowd there was an excellent energy in the football club. If it has restored that I’m really happy for the club, that’s all anyone would want so we’re really happy. The important thing for me is that we come together for the importance of the club, if we do that we’ll make the right decisions for the future.”

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino: “I don’t believe it’s a wake-up call. If we need, after 36 games, someone to say ‘hey, come on, we need to win, we need to be professional and play with the right attitude’ we need to go deeper and assess why. Everyone can see the game, we dominated but if you are not clinical in front of goal it’s always open.”

Moment of the match

It could only be Livermore’s stoppage-time strike which sparked wild scenes at The Hawthorns. The midfielder appeared to get the final touch after he went for the ball with Danny Rose following Matt Phillips’ corner. The ball squirmed past Hugo Lloris as the Baggies continued their fine late-season form, although it still could all be for nothing.

Stat of the match

Caretaker boss Darren Moore has now won 11 points from his five games, while Alan Pardew won just eight points in his 18 league games.

The goalkeeper has at least been consistent during Albion’s season of struggles. He was solid again in saving well from Harry Kane, Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen during a dramatic day at The Hawthorns. It was Foster’s efforts which allowed Livermore to claim the late winner.
